I am looking for books that are just simple, no tragedy, no over the top things happening, no action, something with just a slice of life/ lives of characters.
The Monk and Robot series, starting with A Psalm for the Wild-Built, by Becky Chambers. They’re both very gentle books about finding friendship and purpose in life.

If you like semi-biographical books in a historical setting, you may want to check out the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. That said, there is a bit of tragedy here and there, what with this being pioneer living. But it’s never described or mulled over in an over-the-top way.
