    Hello guys (:

I’ve finally almost read every book in my shelf so i’m

looking for a new fantasy book. But my problem is I HATE romance books like enemy’s to lovers and topics like that. It just bores the hell out of me.

I find a lot of fantasy books but almost everyone’s topic is a romance story.

Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind if there’s a love story as long it’s not the main story.

I recently finished Game of Thrones and Blood of the Dragon and The Poppy War Triology.

I also really enjoyed The Hunger Games, Maze Runner etc.

So do you guys have any suggestions for a good fantasy book? (10 point for Griffindor if there’re dragons in it *~*)

    Thanks!

*The Priory of the Orange Tree* by Samantha Shannon. It’s been a while so it might have some romance, but I don’t think anymore than the series you named and it has dragons!

    2. Dungeon Crawler Carl (comedic tones)

      The Raven Scholar (one book)

Mistborn (long and amazing multi book series)

The series by Alison Croggon starting with The Naming has almost no romance in it, and the small bits that are there are treated almost academically. I love it. But no dragons, sorry.

    4. The Will of the Many by James Islington

The Bladed Itself by Joe Abercrombie

      Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik

    5. You might enjoy The First Law series by Joe Abercrombie, starting with The Blade Itself. Dark, gritty, character-driven fantasy with a lot of cynical wit/dark humor. The audiobooks are also ridiculously good, narrated by Steven Pacey. Endlessly quotable, a great cast of lovable yet highly-flawed bastards, commentary on life/human nature, etc., it’s a great series if you enjoy interesting characters and fun banter/dialogue.

For something a bit more in line with The Hunger Games and other dystopian-type series, you might enjoy Red Rising by Pierce Brown. A fast-paced, twisty, dystopian sci-fi/fantasy revenge story, that turns into quite an epic series.

For a more somber, melancholy, beautifully-written fantasy series, check out Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb, the first in her larger series The Realm of the Elderlings (it has dragons, though they’re strange and unique and later in the series). Complex characters, rich world building, strange magics, and an epic story told over the course of multiple trilogies. The first follows Fitz, the bastard son of a dead prince, who is raised by others in the royal court to become the King’s assassin.

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss is another beautifully-written fantasy novel I’d recommend, even though similarly to A Song of Ice and Fire it’s unfinished, likely forever. Complex characters, rich world building, adventure, cool magic, a magic university as part of the setting, lots of mystery. A legendary fantasy hero in hiding tells his life story, and how it all went wrong…

    6. His Majesty’s Dragon by Naomi Novak and its many sequels reimagine the Napoleonic Wars if people rode talking, reasoning dragons like warships. Romance is almost non-existent but friendships run deep.
