I’ve just finished “Dominion” by Tom Holland. Really approachable and informative and broad overview on Christianity and, in particular, the “western” version and its affects on western civilisation. I’d like to read an analogous book on Orthodox Christianity. I don’t much about it. Would like to learn more from an intellectual perspective. Anyone have any good books or authors here?

Anything by Kallistos Ware, also known by his legal name Timothy Ware. He was an english convert to Orthodoxy and rose up in the ranks of the clergy. Unlike other writers like Seraphim Rose, who’s writing is incredibly dry and not very easy for non-Orthodox to parse, Bishop Ware’s writings are widely considered approachable for a western anglophone to pick up.
His books include:
* *The Orthodox Church*
* *Eustratios Argenti: A Study of the Greek Church under Turkish Rule*
* *The Orthodox Way*
* *The Ordination of Women in the Orthodox Church*
Although given he was a bishop this may not be as completely detached as you might want but Bishop Ware was certainly an intelligent and well spoken man.
