I’m looking for book recommendations that genuinely made a difference in how people think, function, or live — especially for those with ADHD, but not limited to ADHD-specific books.
Which books had the biggest impact on you, and why?
What changed after you read or listened to them — your mindset, habits, self-understanding, or day-to-day life?
I’m less interested in long lists and more in hearing about the books that really stuck with you and why they mattered.

“How to Win Friends and Influence People” completely rewired how I approach conversations and actually helped me mask my ADHD social awkwardness way better than any specific ADHD book ever did
For ADHD brains, the challenge isn’t the ‘will’ to read, but the Executive Function required to organize complex narratives. ‘Atomic Habits’ is a classic, but ‘Deep Work’ by Cal Newport is what actually rewired my focus. It explains the neuroscience of ‘Attention Residue’—how switching tasks kills your productivity.
Pro-Tip: If you have ADHD, don’t read the whole book at once. I’ve started mapping out the core ‘Actionable Nodes’ of each chapter first. This gives the brain a dopamine hit of ‘completion’ early on, making it much easier to stay engaged with the rest of the text.
