Hello! I was wondering of anyone had any suggestions for books similar to my faves because I've been trying to get into more literature from the 2000s onward (I mostly read classics) because these few have been stuck in my head for over 2 years. I really enjoyed Last Days and The Father of Lies by Brian Evenson, and I've taken a crack at his other books too but these two (especially Last Days) stood out to me the most. My current favorite is A Congregation of Jackals by S. Craig Zahler and I'm currently reading his other work (Wraiths of the Broken Land), but it's missing that kick I got from reading ACOJ. I figured this could be the subreddit to ask and a friend of mine suggested it too, so if anyone has any suggestions I'd be happy to hear! I especially wanna read more Westerns like Zahler's works so if anyone more knowledgeable in rhat field could cue in I'd appreciate 🙂

Check out Cormac McCarthy’s Blood Meridian if you haven’t already – it’s got that same brutal western vibe as Zahler but even more unhinged. For the horror side maybe try Matthew M. Bartlett or Philip Fracassi, they’ve got that weird disturbing energy similar to Evenson
