Horror/Thriller book recommendations

My friend & I are looking for some good spooky books to read.

We like books with a twist, and anything scary.

It could be something involving ghosts or supernatural, or crime fiction, or psychological thrillers.

Nothing bothers us. Gore or splatterpunk is fine.

The only thing that we don’t like is a bunch of romance, it takes away from the spooky and we don’t care for romance thrillers.

In the past week we’ve read “Incidents Around The House” by Josh Malerman, which we enjoyed until the end which we both agreed was anticlimactic, and we are about 3/4 of the way through “The Girl Next Door” by Jack Ketchum which we are still forming opinions about.

We are looking for something that gives us nightmares, and keeps us hooked (and an unexpected twist is always great especially if it makes us cry).
