    1. I’m reading the Lonesome Dove series atm too! Currently on Streets of Laredo. When I’m finished with these I think I’m going to read The Homesman.

      I’ve avoided Cormac McCarthy because I’ve heard the writing style can be difficult, but I’m guessing you would recommend him?

      and reread _The Crossing_

      _Against The Day_ has large sections set in the American West around the late 19th/very early 20th century that are wonderful (and then enough for maybe 2-3 other novels).

      John Dos Passos’ _USA Trilogy_ isn’t really a ‘western’ but has large sections defined by westward expansion and the consequences of the end of the American frontier.
