I basically never really read books before, even though I always wanted to. A few light novels, but that's it. I want to start reading books but there is so much out there I don't know where to start. What would you say are some books you would recommend that are just generally very good? Only conditions are no focus on sex (sex scenes are okay, just shouldn't be the point of the book and for me personally are only negative), if possible standalone books or at most a trilogy and nothing too complex. That can come later. By complex I mean the way things are worded mostly. It shouldn't feel like a chore to read it.

    1. What genres do you enjoy? I read mostly fantasy and romance but I have kinda dipped into other genres. So lmk because then I could recommend you some books that would be more suited for your taste.

    2. I think you should read some short stories to get an idea of what types of writing you like. Story Sanctum has a wide assortment of stories from a variety of authors to choose from. I usually start at the top and work my way down.

You might also like some cozy fantasy reads: The Teller of Small Fortunes by Julie Leong or The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna.
