I’m looking for books that feel like documentaries in book form. Non-fiction that tells real stories in a clear, engaging way, not too academic or dry.
Any recommendations for documentary-style books or series that really pulled you in? What topics did you enjoy the most from history, true crime, science, or something else?

Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer is exactly what you’re looking for – reads like you’re watching someone’s life unfold in real time. Devil in the White City is another banger if you want true crime mixed with history
For something different, Mary Roach writes about weird science stuff in a way that’s actually fun to read. Stiff is about dead bodies but somehow hilarious
