Having surgery in a couple of weeks (endometriosis) and looking for books to keep my head out of things. Not looking for anything heavy. Easy and fun, or books so good that you can read for hours!
I like:
romantasy and fantasy ( ok with spicy but can't be playing with consent )
contemporary fiction
psychological thrillers
sci-fi but light on the science
historical fiction but not looking for anything too depressing
romance acceptable but not spicy
Would really appreciate some suggestions. Thank you!!

The Dungeon Crawler Carl series!
Midnight Library, The Sookie Stackhouse series, any book by Octavia Butler or Taylor Ann Jenkins
Yay for the surgery! I know how difficult it is to get to that point!!
If I were able to get in, I would have saved The Will of the Many for recovery! It’s long but it’s so good 🙂
I could barely read for like 5 days after my two laps for endo due to the anesthesia. I thought I’d be able to read and reply to work emails but I absolutely could not. So I’d pick some audiobooks that are not funny but that will hold your focus. Laughing hurt like crazy, so that’s why I’d just avoid anything that might get you chuckling. I also was in and out of sleep for like 3 days, so I was mostly watching my Netflix endlessly play something I’d seen before. Of course, not everyone has these same issues, well the laughing causing pain probably is since you’ve had incisions in your abdominal muscles. But commenting really to advise a wide array of content in case you also can’t process written words for a bit.
