I’ve been wanting to read a couple novels like Frankenstein and/or Don Quixote for a while. Does anyone have any other good recommendations for a beginner reader who’s looking to improve in literacy.
At the moment I have “Demons” by Fyodor Dostoevsky but I’ve heard it’s a difficult read— Should I try it out or wait a little longer?

The stranger by Albert Camus. Won a nobel prize for literature in 1957. Its a novella, so shorter, and has simpler language and writing style, yet will give the reader lots to think about.
Animal Farm, and 1984 by George Orwell
– Giovanni’s Room – James Baldwin
– Catcher in the Rye – JD Salinger
– Of Mice and Men – John Steinbeck
– To Kill a Mockingbird – Harper Lee
