I recently re-read Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus, and it’s surprising how relevant it still feels in today’s age of AI and rapid technological growth.
Victor Frankenstein succeeds in creating life—but the real problem starts when he immediately abandons his creation. The creature isn’t born evil; it learns, seeks connection, and only turns violent after constant rejection and isolation.
This made me think about modern technology and AI:
Are we creating powerful systems without taking responsibility for their long-term impact?
Is neglect and poor ethical guidance what turns a creation into a “monster,” rather than the creation itself?
Like Victor, are we too focused on innovation and ignoring the consequences?
What do you think?
Is Victor the true villain of the story? And do you see clear parallels between Frankenstein and how we treat advanced technology today?

Absolutely Victor is the real villain – dude literally played god then ghosted his own creation like a deadbeat dad
The AI parallels are wild too, we’re basically speed-running the same mistakes but with less dramatic lightning and more venture capital funding
