I’m about to finish **Katabasis by R.F. Kuang** (Super interesting take on hell and it’s purpose and I love the character development as she goes through hell, but not a huge fan of how long it’s felt). I’m also listening to **Born a Crime by Trevor Noah** (I’m really enjoying the historical and societal context in the book and his perspective on being born in apartheid South Africa and then growing up in a post apartheid world).

Curious what everyone is reading and whether they’d recommend their book or if it’s just mehhhh.

    1. I’m reading Katabasis currently as well. If you did enjoy it you should check out Ninth House

    2. I’m currently reading True & Absurd Lawsuits: The Cases Kept Coming from The Curious Case Files series.

I really enjoyed the first one because it was different — short chapters, strange real cases, and the explanations made you realize why the cases weren’t as absurd as they sounded at first. Enjoying this one as much as the 1st. Easy to read, interesting, and good if you don’t want something that drags.

I’m listening to “The Stars My Destination” by Alfred Bester and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. It’s like a futuristic scifi version of Count of Monte Cristo with 800 pages cut off. It’s fast and gets to the point pretty quickly with some added complexity to the plot that is very interesting. I would definitely recommend it, especially for scifi fans.

Then I am listening to the Arisen Series, by Michael Stephen Fuchs performed by RC Bray. Zombie Apocalypse is told through the Special Operations Community.

      12 months, Dresden files

It is the newest book and it just got released and so far it is quite good! I have not read very far yet, I am at the place where the author is still setting up what the main conflicts of the story will be. He is writing slower and giving the character time to breathe and grieve.

    8. I’m currently reading ‘The Five: The Untold Lives of the Women Killed by Jack the Ripper’, by Hallie Rubenhold.

It’s pretty good, but the version I have has the tiniest print.

Just finished Blood Over Bright Haven by M.L. Wang (yes I recommend) and The Reformatory by Tananarive Due-probably one of the most haunting books I’ve read in a while. Yes I recommend it.

    10. “The British Are Coming” by Rick Atkinson and “This is Where the Serpent lives” by Daniyal Mueenuddin. The former is the first in a three-part series chronicling the American Revolution. The latter is a brand-new, highly-lauded work of fiction that I’m enjoying even if it’s not my typical style.

Going to set aside Savage Blooms, by ST Gibson (nothing wrong with it, just not the right time). Think I’ll start Alex Woodroe’s The Night Ship.

    12. I’m reading the lingering by SJI Holliday and it’s good so far. Just finished the lamb by Lucy rose (so good!!) and the Roanoke girls by enger. (Was… a lot..)
