Similar to The Last Kids on Earth series or Timmy Failure. We've graduated from Dog Man and are looking for slightly wordier chapter books similar to The Last Kids on Earth series or Timmy Failure. (already have those).
They don't have to be a series and ideally they would have as many illustrations as my two examples but some would be nice. Also aware of classics like Roald Dahl but I'd ideally like some stuff from the past several years. Thanks!

Check out the Hilo series by Judd Winick – it’s got that perfect mix of comics and chapter book vibes that hits right in that sweet spot between Dog Man and more text-heavy stuff. Also Wings of Fire graphic novels if they’re into dragons at all, those are addictive
