Mystery/thriller with a false prophet/Messiah figure.

This falls outside of my typical reads, but it was inspired by the show Messiah on Netflix.

The main character in the show is a Jesus like figure that starts performing miracles and gains a worldwide following. The show follows a CIA officer who is tasked with investigating him.

I really like that mystery aspect where the whole time you're trying to decide if the person is actually supernatural/magical/otherworldly/etc.
