I love stories where there is a character who is some sort of creature that is looked down upon, yet still tries to be a good guy no matter what (Bonus points if the monster is a weak one, like a slime or a goblin or is a main character). Does anyone know any books along that line?

Goblin Slayer might be backwards from what you want but there’s definitely some goblin POV stuff out there that’s pretty good
You should check out The Goblin Emperor – it’s not exactly a monster trying to be good but the MC is half-goblin royalty who everyone looks down on and he’s just trying to do right by people. Really wholesome read
Also maybe look into some LitRPG stuff, tons of slime protagonists in that genre who start weak and work their way up
