Never heard of The Vrix series but spider people sounds sick. You might dig the Wool series by Hugh Howey – more underground bunker vibes than new planet but has that whole survival against the unknown thing going. Also maybe check out Children of Time, literally has evolved spiders as main characters

It’s not romance focused, but you might enjoy Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky. I won’t say much due to spoilers, but it definitely involves some stuff very specific to what you’re asking for. Give it a shot, and you’ll see what I mean when the main premise is revealed by maybe chapter 3 or 4, really early in the book. A fast-paced, epic sci-fi/fantasy novel with interesting characters, rich world building, adventure, and a compelling premise at the core of a great story.
