Hello! I'm an avid romance reader and have recently added monster romance into my repertoire. So far, it's been decent but I haven't really been vowed by anything I've read.
I've read a couple of the Orc Sworn books, Halfling, Duskwalker Brides, Cambric Creek and Sweet Monster Treats. It feels like the MMCs are all savage beasts who've never heard of a shower or nice (or occasionally, grumpy) neighbours. Neither of which scratch my itch.
My favourite romance to date is Katee Roberts' Dark Olympus series. I love the elegance and class that her MMCs wear as a mask to cover their feral instincts. Would love to read that in monster romance, where the MMC is elegant / classy but can then let the beast out. That would be hot. Oh and definitely modern world.
Other books I've enjoyed are Meghan March's Mount Trilogy and The Ritual by Shantel Tessier.

Edit: Just to clarify, when I say monsters, I'm referring to orcs, minotaurs etc etc. Not humans with a nasty side! Sorry for the confusion 🤣
