Check out “Half of a Yellow Sun” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie – hits that colonialism angle hard and is beautifully written. For social hierarchy stuff “Pachinko” by Min Jin Lee is incredible, follows multiple generations dealing with discrimination in Japan
If you want something that’ll mess with your head try “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” – romance but also breaks down Hollywood’s power structures and gender dynamics pretty well
