coming of a age story focused on female friendships

preferably the friendship starts in elementary school. I've read my brilliant friend and enjoyed it and the following books but honestly they're pretty depressing and I'm looking for something lighter.

I'd prefer if there is no romance triangle or anything, since that sometimes takes over the story

I've also read Judy Blume's Summer Sisters but found it lacking for some reason.
