Hi all, I'm doing research for a writing project and want to read a bit more of the genre. I've delved a bit into Dune which seems to fit the vibe well in terms of being equally sci-fi and fantasy with some spiritual aspects. Star Wars is not a bad example as well, though it doesn't have quite the right vibes.
Really looking for books/literature that uses fantasy elements as the main theme with a heavy sci-fi backdrop.
Would love some more examples to read up on to broaden my understanding.

You might enjoy Hyperion by Dan Simmons. In the far future, five pilgrims returning to a mysterious and dangerous planet each tell their wildly different and compelling back stories. Dark and philosophical, with rich world building, mystery and adventure, complex characters, and an entertaining story. If you enjoy it make sure to read at least the second book as well, to complete the first arc.
You might also enjoy Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky. Fast-paced, epic sci-fi/fantasy, with interesting characters, rich world building, and a compelling sci-fi premise at the core of a great, adventurous story. If you enjoy it, the author is ridiculously prolific in both sci-fi and fantasy, and has a ton of great books that sort of blur the lines between the two. Elder Race is another really cool one with a great premise, and fairly short.
