Hi guys! First time posting anything on Reddit, so hopefully I’ve done this correctly, but I’m looking for book recs that have make people laugh or smile to cheer me up right now. I’ve seen other posts, but have already read the most common suggestions, and am really hoping you guys can help me find something new.
For context:
– I do like light and farcical comedy, and have read all the books and short stories by P. G. Wodehouse in that vein. I also find humor in as stuff like Jane Austen’s Emma and Pride and Prejudice.
– I loved Good Omens, and Terry Pratchet in general
– Douglas Adams is one of my favorite authors, and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is my favorite funny book ever. I find the absurdism so comforting
– I also enjoyed all of Chris Moore’s books as well, and Jsaper Forde’s Thursday Next books
– Other books I liked/found funny: The Princess Bride, The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, Don Quixote, Catch-22 (a bit darker than I’d prefer at the moment), stuff by Carl Hiaasen, The Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens
I also definitely prefer fiction to comedic memoirs, although I’m open to things people really loved. I read a few of David Sedaris books and they were good, just not my favorite.
Thanks all!!
