Stop buying books for a minute, probably get a reading tracker app, stop following social media and getting fomo for books you never actually want to read.
I used to be a multi-book reader, usually 4 or 5 on the go at any one time. I thought being able to pick up the one I āfelt likeā reading encouraged more consistent reading.
Over the holidays I did an experiment and limited myself to one book at a time. Not āone Iām mainly reading and the other on holdā, just one single book.
It really helped me remember what itās like to get heavily invested in one story. Not only did I finish that book faster but I felt I got more out of it.
So I guess my advice would be to shift your mental model to only caring about the one book youāre reading. Read actively. Ask yourself where you think the story is going, what the author is trying to tell you, review what has happened so far, etc.
Hope that helps.
