Looking for some fantasy with knights, elves, dragons, dwarves, etc. with little to no romance. This is mainly for my kids ages 9-15 so I’d like to stay away from grimdark, GRRM, Abercrombie, and similar authors.
They’re big fans of the Hobbit and are about half way through LOTR trilogy. Any Tolkien adjacent authors out there? Anything a little more “modern” meaning that the plot doesn’t revolve around damsels in distress?

I read the books around 12 and loved them.
