I have a hard time relating to most feel good books, so I stick with a lot of dark media, but I need something to listen before bed/when I need to chill. Some examples that I liked: Remarkably Bright Creatures, Cursed Cocktails, The Anthropocene Reviewed. It doesn’t have to be super happy or cheery, just not going to scare me in the middle of the night LOL.

The House in the Cerulean Sea! So good.

I don’t think there is any queer or disabled representation, but Tress of the Emerald Sea is another one that isn’t necessarily cheery, but it’s a fun story and I don’t recall it being scary (it is more sci-fi adventure?).

    2. Anything by Becky Chambers, especially Psalm for the Wild-Built

Murderbot by Martha Wells (there’s a small amount of fighting but it’s not scary)

If you’re not into sci-fi, try T. Kingfisher. Something like Nettle and Bone. She’s never corny. Some of her books are horror and some of them aren’t; read the descriptions to find the non-scary stuff.
