**The Hollows series** by Kim Harrison
**The Iron Druid Chronicles**, By Kevin Hearne
**The Kings Watch** by Mark Hayden. Great series but the MC can hardly light a cigarette with his ability in magic, and its more about how he solves paranormal mysteries without him being able to use much magic. Though he does kill a dragon in one book.
