I’ve just read The End We Start From by Megan Hunter and The Land in Winter by Andrew Miller and loved them both. Very different books but both well written. Any suggestions for books that capture that ‘out of time’ feeling that disasters or weather events cause? Someone snowed in somewhere or cut off during a storm? I don’t really mind what kind of book, whether it involves fleeing the disaster, preparing for it or ‘hunkering down’. I also don’t mind if it’s just the setting rather than the main plot line.

I read “Ghosts of the Tsunami: Death and Life in Japan’s Disaster Zone” by Richard Lloyd Parry recently and found it both tragic and interesting.
White Noise by Don DeLillo
Lucifer’s Hammer by Larry Niven
Cyberstorm by Matthew Mather
I won’t say either stood out as “my favorite books”, but I think they both gave reasonable portrayals of the events they were built around and how they could play out.
