Hello!
I am looking for my next read/listen. I have been struggling to find a good series that I like. I am taking a break from the Dresden series as I am getting burnt out.
One of my favorite sci-fi series of all time is the Kris Longknife series.
I am looking for something similar to that. 3 or 4 books that aren't super long. They can be hard or soft sciences. I just want something that follows a protagonist pov.

Shades Children
Starship troopers
do androids dream of electric sheep
I see The children of Time recommended a lot and I couldn't finish it.

Have you already read the Vorkosigan Saga?

The Confederation Series, by Tanya Huff
The Murderbot Diaries! Starts with “All Systems Red” by Martha Wells. It’s a series of mostly novellas.
