I'm looking for a fantasy novel where there aren't many problems people have to deal with, most people are nice to each other, the political system works as it should, but there is this dark secret making it all work. Can someone suggest me one?

Not recent, but still a good and fairly simple read: Brave New World by Aldous Huxley.
