Hello, I’m visiting my in-laws in another country for a few months to take a breather from all the craziness of the world. I just had my second baby a few month ago and all the child abuse in the news is bring me to a very dark and paranoid place. I’m incredibly lucky to be able to escape for a little bit and focus on my mental and physical health cause “I’m tired boss”. They live in a beautiful house in Eastern Europe where they grow fruits and vegetables and cook from scratch. With the help of my in laws looking after the little ones, I’ll finally have some time to read and relax.
About my reading…before kids I was an avid reader but my attention span is a little shorter these days. I’ve read pretty much all the most popular classics but would love one or 2 great maybe less popular ones. I would also like to read a few self help books or psychology or philosophy. I adore fantasy like Brandon Sanderson and Terry Pratchet. I’ve also been loving some romantasy lately for the escapism it brings me.
So far I’m bringing:
Slaughterhouse-5 (novel)
The black tulip (classic
The knight and the moth (romantasy)
Paladins grace (romantasy)
Candide (classic)
Mythology collection book
Ember in the ash (romantasy)
the myth of sisyphus (philosophy)
It seems like a lot to bring but I will be there for months in a small town and will have an incredibly difficult time getting books in English when I’m there so what I bring is what I’ve got more or less.

Chasing Time by Sarah Louise Dale. I’m a little biased, but it’s a short-ish read and the reviews are there if you’d like to read them.
When Lizzie learns that her estranged mother has died, she returns to the small town she fled fifteen years ago, determined to settle the estate and leave before old wounds reopen. But home has a way of demanding more than closure.
Her younger sister, Emma, is running out of time.
Hoping to repair their strained relationship, Emma convinces Lizzie to stay just long enough to help her face an impossible choice. One that brings old secrets to the surface and forces both sisters to confront the grief they never truly escaped.
What begins as a reluctant reunion becomes a cross-country journey in search of hope, forgiveness, and a cure that may come too late. Along the way, Lizzie and Emma meet people who challenge how they see family, love, and what it means to live fully when the future is uncertain.
Chasing Time is an emotionally moving novel about sisterhood, loss, and the courage it takes to choose how we spend the moments we have left.
