I read 150 books in 2025, and now I think I kind of hate reading. Or, at least, I’m still burned out from cramming to finish. Reading is feeling like a chore again, which means I have very little motivation to finish.
I’m looking for books that make you excited to read. Where, when you put it down, all you want to do is go back and finish. They don’t have to be the greatest books ever in a technical sense, either. Just worthwhile.
I put the flair as literary fiction because that’s what I tend to gravitate towards these days, but I’m open to anything.
In case you’re in a similar spot, here are some books I’ve felt like that with:
Beartown trilogy (blaming this one partially for my funk – I read it in January and haven’t stopped thinking about it)
The King of Infinite Space
Remarkably Bright Creatures
Project Hail Mary
This is How You Lose the Time War
If We Were Villains
Several People are Typing (not my favorite book ever but it is fun)
