    I love reading romance books, especially mlm books, but I’m not a fan of books written by women. They’re a bit too fanfic-like for me and unrealistic. Here are two things I would prefer:

    – I like fluffy and lighthearted stories

    – I prefer happy endings!

    I did really like the story of Song of Achilles, some parts just felt a little off to me. I’ve also read a lot of the Game Changer series. Stories were cute but way too fanfic-y for me. I just don’t like the portrayal of how gay men think lol.

    I’m open to any suggestions, thanks!!

    1. Tal Bauer’s books are quite popular
      Edit: He writes romances, ie mandatory HEA. I haven’t read all of them, but ‘you and me’ and ‘how to say I do’ are lighthearted, especially ‘you and me’

    2. All of the authors below write some *very* serious works, and some lighter and funnier ones. The series listed below are among the lighter and funnier ones, but that’s not true of *everything* they write, so deviate from the recommendations below at your own risk (not that their other works are *bad*, but can be very serious, heavy, and/or violent).

      * TJ Klune:
      * Verania series (beginning with “The Lightning-Struck Heart”)
      * How to Be series (beginning with “How To Be a Normal Person”).
      * Gregory Ashe:
      * The Last Picks (beginning with “Mystery Magnet”)
      * Alexis Hall:
      * London Calling series (beginning with “Boyfriend Material”)
      * “10 Things That Never Happened”

      The Boy From The Mish by Gary Lonesborogh (titled Ready When You Are in some countries) is my favourite YA mlm romance of all time. It’s set in Australia and features two very different Aboriginal boys. The author is a gay Aboriginal man.

      A Little Bit Country by Brian D Kennedy is a sweet contemporary romance about two young men in Tennessee, in the USA. From memory this is NA. The author is a gay man.

      The Other Man by Farhad J Dadyburjor is a contemporary romance/ coming out story about an Indian man in his late 30s who finally has to come to terms with his life when he falls in love. The author is an Indian gay man.

      When the Stars Fall by Brandon Witt is a contemporary romance set in the USA. The men are a widowed rancher with kids and an out gay veterinarian who has just moved to town. The author is a gay man.

      Other books you may like that aren’t strictly ‘romance’, but are fairly light and have distinctly mlm by mlm writing.

      The Tarot Sequence by KD Edwards. This is an excellent urban fantasy series. All the MCs are gay/queer men in a largely queer friendly world. The romance is secondary to the larger mystery/ action storyline but it’s sweet. There are heavy topics including a past S. A. that is remembered in a couple flashbacks. However the core relationships between the men (MC, best friend, boy friend, mentor, ward) are positive and warm, with a sense of humour.

      Just By Looking at Him by Ryan O’Connell. This is a contemp story about a gay man, who happens to have cerebral palsy, reconsidering his ‘perfect’ life. It’s driving me crazy but I just can’t remember how this ends, I do remember that I laughed out loud more than once as I read it. Also there is a fair bit about dicks.
