I am once again stuck on what to read next. I've found so many great suggestions in this sub but I'm not sure what fits this mood.
I'm looking for something fast paced and genuinely scary. Something that throws you in and keeps you stuck there, holding your breath until you finish it.

Well…there’s A Good Marriage by Stephen King. Short compared to his usual maximalist style. Compelling and page turn-y.
