I once worked with a woman who told me she left her wealthy husband for a man with nothing because she loved him more and she is now happier than ever. It always sounded so poetic and beautiful. I'd love a book along that premise.
Sounds like The Notebook. Every man I’ve ever dated love that film and its based on a novel.

While it is not the whole point of the book “Master and Margarita” has an element of that. Plus it’s just one of the best works of fiction ever written.

Not what you asked for. But that theme is part of **Sense and Sensibility** by Jane Austen. However, Austen does not romanticize it as being a good thing necessarily.
