So, I just discovered that my cousin (m13) is an AVID reader (uncommon in our family). He loved Percy Jackson and wants more Greek Mythology book recommendations. Or even just something with similar vibes.

He reads (and enjoys) books like Macbeth and The Iliad, if that helps!

(violence/gore/language/drinking/drugs/smoking are okay! just no sexual content)

    Thank You!

    1. The Odyssey, but make sure it’s a Robert Fitzgerald translation, difficult to get though. The Odyssey is absolutely made for smart 13 year olds.

Hunger games stat. They’ll have the luxury of reading the whole series instead of having to wait for them to be released πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

just go through the other Rick Riordan works like magnus chase, the egyptian series i forgot the name of, aru shah and the end of time is well written if not directly written by him, the wider pjo universe like the trials of apollo, the Miscellanious PJO books are fun too — the side stories and whatnot.

    4. Natalie Haynes has done some Greek mythology adaptions he might like (there are other authors who do but I can’t remember which have sexual content of the top of my head). Or the Iliad or Odyssey.

He might potentially like Terry Pratchett novels too – I’ve heard good things about most, but I’ve only read Dodger myself (which I recommend- it’s inspired by the character in Charles’ Dickens’ Oliver Twist and reads like YA).

I would also recommend Wizard of Earthsea, which is similar to Percy Jackson in that there’s a young protagonist and it’s a coming of age fantasy.
