I found it next to the toys

So I don't normally read fiction. I tend to lean closer on psychology & memoirs. But my favorite work of fiction is Anarchy: A Novel by James Robert Baker.

If I had to describe it it's kinda like what it would be like if Tarantino wrote a gay detective story. The main plot is about a fake OJ Simpson murder tape, but then there's also a subplots of the Pamela Lee Anderson of the universe's boobs blowing up on TV bc the plastic surgeon put C4 in her chest to black mail her, a hyper-religious gay sex cult lead by Republican congressman, & a conspiracy where the detective dies bc Mary Magdalene wants him to kill God.

Fun stuff.

I stumbled across it when I was a teenager & went to the gay bookstore to oogle the dildos. I didn't want to be considered a creep so I grabbed the first book on the clearance rack. Didn't read it for almost a year, but one night I gave it a shot, & fell in love.

Lately I've been having an itch for something similar. Does anyone have any suggestions? Doesn't necessarily have to be gay fiction, but something that constantly feels like an abrupt left turn on a red light.
