Hi everyone! I just read the best book ever—Crown of Aster by Emmaline Strange! I know it was not an objectively "Good Book" in terms of sophistication or epic scope or what have you, but it healed my soul because the MMC was so gentle and never crossed the other MMC's boundaries. I'm looking for more books—any pairing is fine—where the male main character is not aggressiveor unkind to the other MC. I've not found any straight romances that fit this bill but if you have any, by all means! I love any type of fantasy! Some books I did NOT like were A Kingdom of Stars and Shadows, Powerless, and Whispers in the Dark. Also I hope this is the right sub, if not please feel free to redirect me. Thank you!!

Please I’m begging you read and/or watch The Princes Bride it is life changing. Sweetest, bravest, kindest MMC ever.
And similarly I’d say Howls Moving Castle (the original book is very enjoyable even if you’ve seen the movie) it may not appear that Howl is particularly kind or gentle at first, but without spoiling anything, he definitely is.
Lastly to shoehorn a non romance: A Wizard of Earthsea. The MC is to me the epitome of a man who learns how to be gentle and empathetic. There is a romantic subplot later in the series but it’s definitely not the main plot
The Sharing Knife series by Lois McMaster Bujold.
They barely even disagree with each other, and those are more like calm discussions about practical problems. The plot is instead driven by the difficulties in finding a place that will accept a cross-culture marriage and the occasional deathless abominations that try to eat the world.
I’d suggest the Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison-the main character is wise beyond his years and despite his upbringing. And Once Upon A River by Diane Setterfield which has several loving, kind, wise men and women . I’d also recommend The Wizard of Earthsea too and was pleased to see someone else recommend it. It’s so good to read about kind and wise men.
Not sure if it’s exactly what you want but it’s a great read with a very sweet mmc.
