I know this has been asked in this subreddit before, but I bring it up again because I specifically am looking for the artistic vision Miller has. She writes her book in the same way someone paints a canvas. I was an artist for a good portion of my life, and reading her books brings that beauty back to me. Her writing is lyrical and flowing. Every word is a brush stroke, intentional and supportive. Who else writes like this? I’m currently reading the Handmaid’s Tale, as I prefer the broad idea of fantasy, whether that’s a dystopian version of reality like Fahrenheit 451 (which I’ve read) or high fantasy like A Song of Ice and Fire (which I haven’t, because the prose isn’t what I’m looking for). It’s good and it flows beautifully, if that offers any help as to what I’ve read and what I’ve enjoyed. I tried Six of Crows. I couldn’t get past the first five pages.
I’m open to other genre suggestions as well!

IMO Madeline Miller is in a league of her own. I can’t explain these choices, but here are other books I personally love as much as her work:
This Is How You Lose The Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone – stunning sci-fi epistolary novel that leaves me breathless. 100% thought I was too stupid for it the first time I read it and had to float on vibes but…. the VIBES! They are incredible.
Katabasis by RF Kuang – brilliantly crafted, witty, intentional. I adore everything I’ve read thus far from her, but this is my favorite.
