I can think of a few, such as the crescent city series- but any more would be appreciated 🙂
looking for fantasy books set in a modern day world, like the one we live in with technology and other modern day things- but with elves or dragons etc
thanks!
Preferably newer releases, but not a must

Two fantastic ones.
Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch has this but it’s quite understated , it’s modern day London but with gods , and further through the series , elves , goblins etc
Also Last smile in sunder city by Luke Arnold is a full modern fantasy world with all the magical creatures but the magic has died.
Max Gladstone’s Craft Sequence – post-industrial fantasy world with necromancer lawyers, magical megacorporations, dragon airliners, skyscrapers cooled by air elementals, nightmare telegraphs and so on. Fantastic series!
The Laundry files maybe. But it doesnt get that weird until much later.
I loved Book of Night by Holly Black. But I also wanted to let you know that the subgenre you should search for is “urban fantasy.” That will get you loads of suggestions.
The Entanglement of Rival Wizards by Sara Raasch. Fantasy romance in a university setting
Mercedes Lackey had elves running race cars in Los Angeles in the 80s.
