I just finished The Secret History by Donna Tartt. Really enjoyed it until the last few chapters – things felt “clipped” and a bit sterile when there was so much happening with the characters for most of the book. I’ve been reading a lot of Tana French (The Likeness is my favorite so far), but I’m getting a bit bored with that setting and need a break.

I liked the Dark Academia aspect of The Secret History – just was disappointed in the ending (I wanted more about Julian!)

As a follow on to Shutter Island, Mystic River is my favorite by Dennis Lehane and perhaps my favorite mystery of all time.
The Name of the Rose is a classic, cerebral, but not fast paced.
