Gateway Books

I was an avid reader as a child, gravitated towards writing in high school and ended up minoring in creative writing in college. However, due to… well I guess to be brief, a decade dark times, I lost my proclivity for consuming language. I feel dumber, less connected, and almost less human now, and I feel a profound void. I’m trying to get back into reading and eventually writing, but all the options have me struggling with the paradox of choice. It’s also daunting to start over!

TLDR: Does anyone have good “gateway books” to get me to fall back in love with reading? I do not care about genre, just an enjoyable read. Any and all suggestions are welcome and appreciated!!! Thank you in advance
