I’ve also heard “Replay” by Ken Grimwood might scratch a similar itch but haven’t picked it up yet.

What I’m hoping to find more of are stories with things like:

    – time loops or repeating lives

    – nonlinear timelines

    – characters remembering things across realities or resets

    – bigger philosophical questions about time, identity, and causality

Doesn’t have to be pure sci-fi either. If it’s speculative or even literary but plays with those ideas, I’m interested.

    1. If a mystery might be up your alley, you might like *The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle* by Stuart Turton!

I’ve also heard great things about Kate Atkinson’s *Life After Life*.

This thread, or something like it, appears about every week. Do yourself a favor, Op, and read Grimwood’s REPLAY, which shows what someone sent back to 1963 would do with his knowledge of Kentucky Derby winners and baseball championships, sports betting in general, stock purchases, backing hit movies, etc.

I’ve read most time travel books, as well as books on the theories and practical attempts at working out actual time travel. HARRY AUGUST was good, but nothing compares with Ken Grimwood’s REPLAY. The best sequel to REPLAY is Gregory Benford’s REWRITE, which also uses the real world as a backdrop.

Not that I don’t like all the others too, My favorite humor includes Charles Yu’s HOW TO LIVE IN A SCIENCE FICTIONAL UNIVERSE, Elan Mastai’s ALL OUR WRONG TODAYS, and Adrian Tchaikovsky’s ONE DAY ALL THIS WILL BE YOURS.

But do yourself a favor and start with REPLAY.
