I (31F) am looking for my next book to read. This is no small decision for me, as I am quite a slow reader, with ADD, so takes me a while to get through a book.
I thought I might like fantasy in books, because I love it in movies and TV shows (TVD is my favourite). I started reading Acotar, but stopped reading it, as it was simply too long. So much time spend reading and nothing happened. I like books that gets to the point a little faster, with the excitement starting earlier. I also love when a book is unpredictable.
Any suggestions on books that fit this?
Ideally either a stand alone or max 3 books in the series. For a slow reader, the length of the series adds to the commitment, if I were to finish it.

    1. i suggest giving Red Rising a try. there’s 6 total, but was intended as triology. as a trilogy, it’s awesome, but like many that have read the first 3, you’ll probably fall in love with the characters/world and read all 6.

I’ve read/listened to First Law series, currently on 8th book of The Expanse, 2nd book of Stormlight Archive. these are super good as well, but much slower pacing than Red Rising.

I love the Queen’s Thief series. There are more than 3, but they are fairly short for fantasy books and I think technically a YA series so easy to read. The first book, The Thief, can also be read as a standalone book (and is kind of the odd one out in the series, kind of similar to the Hobbit before LoTR).

    3. Death of the Necromancer by Martha Wells – Nicholas Valiarde is a nobleman with a secret – he’s the greatest thief in the country of Ile-Rien and he’s using his ill gotten gains to fund his plans to get revenge on the man who he holds responsible for the death of his beloved grandfather.

    4. Its short and snappy – innkeeper series by ilona andrews, and about a intergalactic b&b

Also perhaps six of crows? Its been a long time since I’ve read it but fantasy heist series, it is YA but its still very good

I feel like fantasy leans drawn out in general lol
