Hi guys,
I’m looking for a book that has kind of a Wild West, cowboy, vintage Americana vibe. I absolutely adored east of Eden by John Steinbeck, I really liked killers of the flower moon, and in cold blood by Truman Capote as well as the colour purple. I really enjoy Toni Morrisons work too!
Tia! 🙂

Lonesome Dove is the quintessential western cowboy book
Two authors
Tony Hillerman wrote mysteries in the southwest. I like the Leaphorn and Chee books.
Louis L’Armour is the classic western authore. He wrote in the 50’s to the 80’s. Good writer, very visual but the plots are thin and can be very reactive and leans a bit into the stranger that is the hero trope. I like the Bowdrie books (short stories about a Texas ranger) and The Cherokee Trail.
Elmore Leonard’s early works were westerns, and several were made into films.
C.J. Box’s Joe PIckett series.
All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy
Anything by James Carlos Blake
*Angle of Repose*, by Stegner. It’s a wonderful, lyrical, well told story based on real events.
