Looking for books or short stories where someone has a stalker who's maybe a bit skittish or insists on staying at some distance for some reason, and whoever's being stalked tries to find ways to lure them in closer
Maybe it's because they want to be friends with the stalker, or maybe whoever's being stalked is secretly a cannibal who wants to eat them it doesn't matter

I know this is a bit off the wall but how about “The Book of Ruth” by Jane Hamilton. It’s about an emotionally needy woman who is stalked by her husband’s brother. The brother would come to the house and stare at her and she was fascinated and repelled by this.
