IN SEARCH OF: Kid’s classic literature from around the world!

Hello, I'm looking to create a reading list for me and my kids to read aloud from the ages of 4-13 that isn't just, well, white British authors. 🙂

I'm looking for books that are classics from around the world that are great to read aloud with kids. English translations of originals or abridged originals of historical works are VERY welcome!

I want my kids to have an understanding of the stories and books from around the world, not all written from a Western perspective. But when I search for lists, everything is published after 2014 and I'm not a fan of that, either. I KNOW there are great books out there that I'm missing!

What would you consider must-read classics from outside of the European classics lists??
