I haven't read a book in like 3 years (unless audiobooks count), even though I have shelves of unread books that I either need to get rid of or finally read. What's a book I can read that might help me become an avid reader again? Something that is really engaging for someone who is trying (and failing) to quit social media. And maybe something that might make me want to pick up other books after reading it (bonus points if it's a series !!).
Genres: I'm definitely not super picky, but I'm not a huge fantasy fan (I think I was just too stupid to read Dune, and everything else after that felt like trying to read Morse code). Not a huge fan of smut. I love mystery, thrillers, horror, classics, and almost any type of fiction. 3 years ago, I used to be able to read almost anything, so I'm really not picky at all. I just have zero attention span now.
If you have a book that you think can help me fall back in love with reading, let me know!

Don’t beat yourself up! I’ve been reading fantasy and sci-fi voraciously since kindergarten… and I had to read through Dune three times before I felt like I was starting to understand everything that was happening. It’s one of the most dense, intricately woven plots I know of – an incredible feat of writing, but definitely not easy to read!
I think you should give Murderbot Diaries a shot. It’s fantastic sci-fi, and way more accessible than Dune. Dresden Files might be worth a look, too.
You might use audiobooks to get your interest going. In the USA you can use Libby and your local library to rent for free. I sometimes both read and listen when the book is really good.
Heroine, the hunger games, perks of being a wallflower, Fangirl, Eliza and her monsters, this savage song, nimona, the night eaters, yumi and the nightmare painter
What are some titles you are considering on your shelves?
When I’m in a reading slump, I find a good thriller will help me find joy in reading again. Here are some good YA thriller/mysteries to check out:
Find Me by Romily Bernard
Broken Things by Lauren Oliver
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
Junior Missing by Khristina Chess
Missing by Kelley Armstrong
One of Us Is Lying by Karen McManus
The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis
Dungeon Crawler Carl
