Hi all,
I've been playing a game titled "Ready or Not" recently, which is a SWAT simulator game. There is a group in the lore called the "Mariposa Lily Organization", who are a shadowy cabal made up of high ranking officials in the government that want to overthrow America.
This got me thinking it would be really cool to read a novel about a shadowy group with plans to cause great harm to a country/the world, with the main character trying to stop them.
I'm not really sure how good this premise would translate to writing, as I've never really heard of a book like this before. That being said, I'm almost exclusively a fantasy and non-fiction reader, so I might just be unaware.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Wow so many of these its hard to list just a few.
Fro classics there’s **The Manchurian Candidate** by **Richard Condon,** and **The Spy Who Came in From the Col**d by **John le Carre**. and even the novel **The Borne Identity** by **Robert Ludlum**.
**The Rook** by **Daniel O’Malley**
**The Laundry Files** novels by **Charles Stross**
**Sekret Machines** by **Tom DeLonge** – high level government conspiracy about UFO technology
If you want to stick with the Fanatsy/sci-fi genre look at **Transition** by Iian Banks or **Cryptonomicon** by Niel Stevenson.
**The Company series** by K**age Baker** is a good sci-fi about a clandestine agency manipulating and controlling history through time travel
