I would recommend End of Eternity and Roadside Picnic.
End of Eternity is sci-fi + mystery + philosophy, Roadside Picnic is grim grounded sci-fi dystopia.

Annihilation kind of hits that clean but mysterious feel. It’s strange and layered without being messy.
The City & the City is also good for that. Feels like a mystery but the world itself is the weird part.
