I’m looking for a new book to read for my school book report and I need some suggestions. I really want zombie apocalypse with a lot of action. My favourite game and story in the whole world is The Last of Us so I’m looking for something similar. I don’t like books with too many character because I find it hard to follow. I also love the found family aspect of Tlou with Joel and Ellie. How Joel would do anything to protect Ellie, and how he sees her as a second chance at being a father. Having to survive overrun America together making them grow closer is what I really love. Seeing their relationship grow from Joel at first being distant and annoyed by Ellie to eventually sacrificing everything for her. I also love the action in the walking dead, and the characters: especially Carl. How he has to grow up in the apocalypse and seeing how he changes from when he was little at the start to a teen at the end. I feel like hes pretty similar to Ellie in a way. Ok I hope that’s enough info please help me find a good book!!!

*Wanderers* by Chuck Wendig, and its sequel, *Wayward*. They’re close enough to zombie-ish to recommend.
The Girl With All the Gifts is probably the closest match. Zombie apocalypse but very character focused and easy to follow.
World War Z is also great for the overall collapse feel, but it’s more fragmented.
The Complete Deadland Saga by Rachel Aukes is perfect. Book 1 is titled- 100 days in Deadland. It has lots of action, it has very few characters, mostly two, with few secondary people. (I remember noticing how nice that was- easy to follow). It’s the closest to The Last of Us tv show out of all the zombie apocalypse books I’ve read. I love zombie apocalypse books
